Week 3
What a beautiful day for Forest School. We walked the long way to the woodland today,
following the board-walk through the fen looking at the plants
that live in the wetland. Once we
arrived we spent some time meeting what we think might be the oldest tree in
the woodland. There was some discussion
about what name we would give our Grandmother tree, once we have identified
what species she is we might settle on a name.
The children learned a new game that involved strategy and stealth; capture the flag! You needed to be quick and sneaky to steal the other teams flag and avoid being captured and put in their prison
|
Guarding the flag. |
|
Keeping watch for the enemy! |
When it was time to choose several decided that they would
continue playing capture the flag - if I didn't manage to get a picture of you for the blog, well it means you were just too good at being stealthy!
So what else went on at Forest School today.....
|
Isla used elder wood with its pithy core to make beads for a necklace. |
|
Qingfeng made a start on an elder wood snake. |
|
Shannon made a den... |
|
and invited Nanny to try it out too. |
And popular again this week....
Mud glorious mud...
|
Sinking our boots in it |
|
Making tea with it |
|
Mashing it |
|
Hot chocolate?! |
|
And how far do we dare let it come up the side of our wellies? |
And back to base to tell the rest of the group how much fun we had.
Looking forward to seeing you all again next week :)
